Last week, I met up with
Fabian for our traditional half-year debriefing. This has become a wonderful tradition over the last four years: We meet up for an entire day to discuss what happened in our lives, what was important, what we learned, and what our goals for the coming year are. We always try to go to a place that we both have never been to before to do it. This year, we chose to spend most of the time in Swiss trains. One stop was Montreux at the beautiful Lake of Geneva (see picture).
The debriefings are so important to me because they provide perspective, and an opportunity to look back. I'm always amazed at how many (and how many interesting) things have happened in the last six months that I have already half-forgotten.
The frustrating part of this year's debriefing was looking at how many of the goals we set for ourselves last time we had actually reached. We realized that we had never looked at the list of goals again after we set them - and, consequently, had reached only few of them. For the next six months, we decided to update each other regularly on our progress, as a way to keep our own big goals in mind. I already look forward to looking back in July.
