The personal e-mail update: An experiment
I have just sent out a personal e-mail update about what's going on in my life to a little over 200 contacts of mine. This is an experiment connected to my realization that «staying connected» and creating meaningful relationships with people become increasingly important.
You can find the full text of the update below. I would highly value your feedback, and will share any inputs I get from recipients here as well.---------- Forwarded message ----------

Subject: Happy New Year & A Look Back at 2009
Dear friends, I wish you all a wonderful start into the year 2010! I would like to take this occasion to briefly update you
on what is going on in my life and my projects. Reading this
shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. I. PROJECTS A little over two months ago, I handed in my master thesis
in medieval history at the University of Zurich and am now
preparing my final exams from January to March. Writing my
thesis was very intense, and I feel that I have learned a lot.
Some notes about my learnings in more detail here:
http://bit.ly/6O7aeT In May, Sandbox, a company that I co-founded, was incorporated.
Our company aims to create a valuable and exclusive community
for extraordinary young achievers worldwide and to provide
clients with knowledge and ideas generated with the help of
this community (we call this «community-based consulting»).

Check out what we have planned for 2010: http://bit.ly/4MZMys Besides thesis-writing and building up Sandbox, I have continued
to work as a freelance journalist. I mostly focused on my
blog about new media and technology for Swiss newspaper «Neue
Zürcher Zeitung». You can find it here (it's in German):
http://bit.ly/4nElwi II. THOUGHTS I've been a bit obsessed with «storytelling» lately; both
because I think that it is a common denominator of many of
the things I'm passionate about and because I believe that
it is an increasingly important skill. You can read some of
my thoughts here: http://bit.ly/6hUfxd If you have any
inputs or comments, I'd love to hear them! With the «social web» making connecting to people all around
the planet ever easier, I'm also convinced that it becomes
more important to not only connect, but stay connected and
build meaningful relationships. This is the reason why
I'm writing this e-mail update. III. LINKS Here are some links I enjoyed over the last months (in no particular order): How to kill an idea: http://bit.ly/7C04WO How Demand Media creates tons of disposable online content
